The owners of The Crooked House, known as “Britain’s wonkiest pub,” have agreed to reconstruct the historic establishment after it was razed by a catastrophic fire.
The owners are planning to rebuild the pub on an alternate plot of land they own, in a refreshed location, coupled with additional enhancements aimed at increasing footfall. They assert that it is unviable to rebuild at the original site owing to its limited utilisation and inadequate foot traffic.
The proprietors have formally submitted a detailed proposal of their reconstruction plans to the local council. A verdict regarding the proposition is anticipated in July. The demolition of The Crooked House ignited a grassroots campaign advocating its reconstruction, amassing a community of over 37,000 supporters on a dedicated Facebook page. Staffordshire Police have taken six individuals into custody in relation to the suspected arson attack that led to the building’s destruction.
